What is Sterling Silver?
Sterling silver is made up of 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals. The reason sterling silver requires the mixture of other metals is because naturally, pure silver is soft. Adding other metals to the silver increases the hardness, making it more suitable and durable for use in jewelry and housewares like silverware. Due to this, sterling silver can tarnish, however, with a polishing cloth can be returned to its original state.
It is hypoallergenic.
What is Rhodium plated?
Rhodium is a very precious metal that is often plated onto sterling silver for a more shiny, lustrous affect + its strength. It is more precious than any other metal including gold. It is also hypoallergenic and is extremely tarnish resistant, making it able to last a lifetime if cared for.
